UK Bebras Challenge - Students in top 10% nationally

Sheringham HS_ (76)In November 2022 all Year 7 & 8 pupils at SHS, and those in Year 9 who opted for GCSE Computing or iMedia, took part in the UK Bebras Computing Challenge.

This competition is organised by Oxford University and The Raspberry Pi Foundation to encourage young people to consider a career or further study in computing-related subjects.

Pupils had to solve a series of increasingly difficult computational thinking puzzles in 40 minutes. Results are now in and congratulations to the cohort from SHS who did amazingly well! Thirteen pupils achieved Gold Awards, which means that they performed in the top 10% nationally of the 360,000 students who took part. These pupils will be invited to enter the next level of the competition in January 2023, The Oxford University Computing Challenge, which aims to encourage students to develop their skills further and produce programmed solutions to computational thinking problems.

Certificates will be awarded (at distinction, merit or participation levels) to all who took part. Well done, SHS computing superstars!

Ms Johnson, Head of Computing.
